The “Hutch” Spiel is a fun bonspiel, named for Elmer Hutchinson, a member of the Peace Arch Curling Club in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. He and Jim MacNeil decided there needed to be a Bonspiel after Christmas that would provide exercise for everyone during the week of festivities and offer a change from a diet of turkey etc. The event, organized by the Senators, is open to all members of the Club and their friends and family.
Peace Arch Curling Club lost its ice on December 26, 2023 but thanks to Ross Scott and the Optimal Ice crew the Hutch Bonspiel went ahead - although two days later. The curlers extend their appreciation also to bonspiel coordinator, Doug Holmyard, for quickly rescheduling teams so that everyone could enjoy this holiday tradition.
Congratulations to our 2023 winners, Team Festivus, pictured below L-R Steve Messerschmidt, Bonnie Henry, Ken Henry, Archie MacRitchie.
